On leaving our RV park this morning, we once again had fog hanging in the mountain tops.
As we drove through the little town of Houston, we passed “The Worlds Largest Fly Rod.”
This is sort of their trademark as this is area is renown for Steelhead fishing.
Next we drove through beautiful meadows and farm land with the mountains in the background.
The scenery is just beautiful and was more so with every curve we went around…and there was a lot of curves.
There is not a lot I need to say about the drive today. I’ll just show you what it looked like.
This is the Skeena River. We saw a lot of fishermen today. This apparently is a great fishing river.
At one point we came around a curve like this and there was a black bear about to cross the road.
Fortunately he wasn’t very far out into the driving lane or we would not have had time to stop. As it was, I did not have time to get my camera trained on him.
So far on this trip we have seen two moose, seven bears, two fox (one alive and one road kill) and one squashed porcupine…and we haven’t even gotten to Alaska yet! OK, so that was more information than you actually needed.
As I am sitting here writing this, I looked out the window of the motorhome to see three guys bring in their boat and begin cleaning fish.
Don told me to go talk to them, which I did.
They told me that these Chinook Salmon weighed 27 pounds each, “just average sized,” they said. They had caught them from the bank…Wow!
Tomorrow we are heading over to the coast to Prince Rupert. More about that next time.
